Betty Thurban
Betty's interest in photography did not commence until late in life, but through her late husband Bob's monochrome work, she had been on the periphery of the photographic scene for some time. Her serious approach commenced as a slide worker in 1983.
She gained the Royal Photographic Society's Licentiate Distinction that year, followed by Associateship in 1988.
With over 250 acceptances in National Exhibitions, she was awarded the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain's Distinction - DPAGB.
Following more than 150 acceptances in International Exhibitions as far afield as America, Australia and the Far East she became the first Jersey photographer to gain the International Distinction, AFLAP - Artiste Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique in 1996 and in March 2004 gained the EFIAP, the only Jersey photographer to do so.
