Clare Ormsby
My first abstract paintings consisted of small, formal patterns, sometimes placed at random, these have became more structured and repetitive.
I began by doing my designs in acrylic and gel pen on postcards, progressed to large canvasses (replacing gel pens with appliglue) and then, following on from using the new style chunky canvases, decided my techniques would work well on boxes.
Firstly, I cover the whole box with acrylic paint applied in an abstract expressionist style, then, I embellish it with intricate motifs drawn in pre-coloured glue.
