John Binet-Fauvel
My training in Fine Art Sculpture has led me to produce three
dimensional knitting, first soft padded shell forms, later using wire. The wire is from the insides of slot machines and is knitted on domestic knitting machines, by wrapping it round each needle and then pushing the needle back by hand.
A lot of my work is influenced by sea creatures (fish, prawns, shells and lobsters) found around the shores of my family's home in Jersey, l try to capture their spirit and movement, but do not try to copy nature, when making the creatures themselves or using their forms to make bags, body pieces and head pieces.
