Saturday 8 November: Dissolve.
Free machine embroidery. Experiment with cold water dissolvable fabric, play with Stewart Gill fabric paints. Produce a panel, purse or cards for special occasions.
Sunday 9 November: Construct.
Stitch into copper, experimental constructional samples, followed by a larger hanging.

Beginner's Guide to Embroidery

Scared of using your sewing machine? Longing to experiment with colours, threads, materials and techniques? Then this course is for you! Lots of experimentation, build up a sketch book with samples supported by notes and creative ideas for further development. Learn to set up your machine, free machine embroidery, drawing with a needle, creating textural surfaces, hand stitching and much more. No pressure to produce "final pieces".
Eight day sessions with textile artist and teacher Sarah Jordan.

CREATE A CREATURE with Elizabeth Le Gal

Age: 7 years and upwards
Bring along a picture of your favourite colourful bird, animal or insect and transfer this onto hessian using a variety of fabrics, sparkly yarns unusual threads and beads. You will learn 3 or 4 embroidery stitches and take home a very attractive panel hanging from a wooden pole.

Amulet Purses

One day workshop with Louise Watson (member of the Brunel Broderers and full member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen).
Create a little work of art in a day! A small purse to wear or hang on the wall. You will make your own textured fabric from scraps of lace, papaer, silks, etc. Dye and gild it and make an edging of lace on water soluble fabric. The purses are finished with hand stitchery and beads. A sewing machine is required and a knowledge of free machine embroidery.

Atmospheric Landscape

One day workshop with Louise Watson (member of the Brunel Broderers and full member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen).
Students will be asked to bring a photograph of an atmospheric landscape personal to them. This will be simplified and worked in fabric and thread to retain the essence of the place. Students will work in mixed media with paint, paper, fabric and thread, etc., etc.! Pieces can be worked on or off a frame. There will be an emphasis on texture and freedom of style.
