Eastern Furze Hill: 11 flowering stems, Ashley Arbon, 21.6.1992.
On the spine of East Hill; I estimate the grid reference to be TL55514838. There are two rabbit exclosures on the spine; the southernmost one, roughly lozenge shaped, was still rabbit-proof and the grassland very rank and species-poor in appearance. The second exclosure, extending northwards along the spine, was not entirely rabbit-proof and contained some shorter and more open grassland; the Dianthus was in the southern part of this second exclosure.I counted 4 flowering stems but there were no doubt some non-flowering ones I overlooked. I decided not to crawl or walk around the area to avoid trampling the plant. NP Millar, 22.6.2001.
