DAISY PULLS IT OFF
by Denise Deegan

Director: Sonia Hamon. assisted by Mary Parslow.

Hard to believe that it's five months since 'Daisy'! We like to think that
everyone had a good time; certainly the cast did - and what a great cast they were - working together as a team to produce an entertaining production, which, judging by the end-of-performance applause, our near-capacity audiences really enjoyed.

The production was helped enormously by the excellent, solid set - designed, built and painted by Helen MacLean and Gareth Thomas at a ridiculously low cost. I still can't believe what they achieved, with stock scenery, for such a small outlay. Their planning was spot-on and they had a good team of young and old club members (+ 'Sybil's' Dad) helping with painting.

Costuming was in Val Nelson's capable hands and 'Monica's' Mum sorted out hats and blazers.

Overall I felt we achieved a high standard of performance, with good
cue-ing/pace, and I hope, with our profit of about £3,000 we confounded those who thought the play was 'old-fashioned' and would not sell.

It was great to have young people and more mature members working together as we all have so much to learn from each other.

Here's to the next time!!

Sonia
