are honour bound to do just that), here's a guide to some of the more obscure
job titles which appear:
| LIGHTS |
Gaffer |
The gaffer is in charge of the lighting crew. |
| Best boy |
Right hand man to the gaffer. Assists in setting up the lighting
rigs and tying lighting cables away on set. |
| SOUND |
Boom man |
Responsible for handling microphones placed at the end of 'booms' (poles). |
| Foley artist |
Creates sounds that cannot be properly recorded during the film shoot (creaking doors, thunder, etc.). |
| ACTION |
Key grip |
In charge of all the equipment (grips) designed for moving and elevating the camera during shots. |
| Dolly grip |
Looks after the dolly - a moveable platform for the camera - moving it during filming. |
